My Sordid Past

"We write to taste life twice: in the moment and in retrospect."
Anais Nin

After my return to Ireland I worked for five years as a project manager with Bowne Global Solutions, a major localization company in Dublin. Spent several months in the Paris office, with visits to Milan and Munich. Some of our social activities are chronicled here...

Before that (after an exploratory trip to Brazil, where the economic crisis and inflation there precluded moving there), I worked as a consultant with Olivetti, in Pozzuoli, Italy.

Based in Naples with forays to other Olivetti sites in Pisa and Cosenza (Calabria), I managed to explore most of Italy. Weekends in Summer were spent on Capri and Ischia, islands in the Bay of Naples, while vacation was spent on the Amalfi Coast. In Winter a gang of us travelled to Rome every Tuesday to play in the Druids Den, an Irish pub.

I put together a collection of mainly traditional Irish songs for our outings, some of which are collected here.

Before that I was an Information Developer with IBM Germany, in Hannover and Stuttgart. Often visited Holland, mainly Amsterdam and Zwolle.

I studied German in Germany and did a post-grad in Computer Programming.

A couple of years ago I spent a lot of time transcribing travel journals of an overland trip to Nepal and back, done in my salad days, which can be accessed by clicking here.
